2008 AMTA National Convention: imassage to sponsor again

Once again, imassage will be attending the 2008 AMTA National Convention in Phoenix, AZ., September 17-20. The spirit of community and connection that was present at last years convention in Cincinnati was contagious and has us excited about returning to see old friends and create new connections.

We have worked with the state chapters in both Nebraska and Kentucky this year to offer continuing education classes. Both events were extremely well attended and the dedication of the AMTA volunteer members made for an inspiring weekend.

As professionals, we often find ourselves involved in the day to day routine of our massage practices and disconnected from the larger community. Without support from our peers, we may struggle with not only the challenges, but also lack the ability to share our success stories with each other.

The state and national AMTA conventions are the perfect chance to reconnect with the larger community. Whether it is attending a CE or having a passionate conversation over a cup of coffee, the meetings are focused around a central theme: community.

At a time when our field faces many challenges around certification, licensing, portability and national coherence as a profession, it is important that we stay informed, educated and have the opportunity to have our voice heard. As in every professional field, there are “political” issues that are unavoidable and necessary. Without the involvement of the larger community, decisions become vulnerable to the interests of a few individuals or corporations.

Consider attending your state or the national convention this year as an investment in yourself and the future of the massage therapy profession. Stop by our booth and say hello. See you in sunny Phoenix!
